A six-session course to work with the tools employed in creating solo performance. This innovative writing/performance/improvisation class examines different solo show forms and the various skills needed to generate them. This class is unique because it combines several disciplines and focuses on the assets of each student.
This workshop addresses the common biases audiences have and fears creative artists face in this work. The personal and exceptional stuff of each student become paths of possibility to making many solo performances. Exercises and homework for this class have been designed to use all the students' muscles, to strengthen voices, to move beyond fear, to let down barriers, to broaden range, and to turn weaknesses into pluses. The structure gives opportunities in each class for all students to work. The environment is accepting without becoming an embarrassing therapy session.
Because of the challenging nature of this course, a pre-screening interview is required.
